Indrani Mukerjea, who was late last night rushed to Mumbai's JJ Hospital in a 'delirious condition' after she took ill, is suspected to have had a drug overdose, a preliminary probe has found. Indrani, who is lodged in Byculla Jail in connection with the Sheena Bora murder case, reportedly fainted on Friday night and had to be rushed to the hospital. Reports suggest that she took so violently ill that jail officials couldn’t revive her. She is currently admitted in the critical care unit.
Indrani’s treatment is for two suspected things: Poisoning due to drugs overdose
or reaction and ischaemic changes in small blood vessels in the brain. Indrani's pupils were seen to be contracted - a symptom of poisonous intake, which is drug-related. Gastric lavage has been taken and the washing of stomach has showed some abnormal coloured material. The report of gastric lavage will throw light on whether it's case of drug reaction or overdose.“Indrani was brought here in a disoriented condition. Tests have been conducted. Preliminary tests have pointed towards poisoning or drug overdose. We're waiting for reports,” SD Nanandkar, Dean of JJ Hospital told news agency ANI.
