Drawing lessons from Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army is set to procure 850 kamikaze drones to strengthen the capabilities of all three defence services and special forces.
Defence sources told media that the Army’s proposal is at an advanced stage and is likely to be approved soon by a high-level meeting of the Defence.

scheduled for the last week of this month. Under the fast-track procurement process, the Army plans to acquire around 850 loitering munitions along with their launchers from indigenous manufacturers.
Sources said the Indian Army already operates a large number of loitering munitions and is aiming to induct nearly 30,000 such systems in the near future to equip its combat formations.
