India and Brunei will sign memorandum of understanding to cooperate on defence, this afternoon at the capital Bandar Seri Begawan of the oil-rich nation. External Affairs Ministry sources said, agreements on health and youth affairs & sports will also be signed, after the talks between the visiting Vice President Mohd Hamid Ansari with the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam, Hassanal Bolkiah, and the crown prince Al-Muhtadee

Brunei is home for over 10,000 Indian diaspora, many of them professionals in the fields of education and health. There is enormous goodwill for India as the country of a little over 4 lakh people had very long historical and cultural ties.
