India on Monday increased security along its international borders with Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh following a powerful explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort which claimed eight lives and injured several others.

The Border Security Force (BSF) has stepped up vigilance across the Indo-Pak border in Punjab, while security has also been tightened at the Uttar Pradesh-Nepal border and other sensitive checkpoints.

According to the sources, intensive checking is underway for all individuals crossing border areas, with entry into Indian territory permitted only after thorough verification of identity documents.

Dog squads and advanced screening equipment have been deployed to conduct detailed inspections, while CCTV cameras and surveillance teams are monitoring every movement along the

frontier.

Additionally, the blast in Delhi has prompted authorities in several cities and states, including Kolkata, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Hyderabad, Dehradun, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, to declare an alert and intensify security measures.

The blast, which occurred around 7 pm, involved a Hyundai i20 with a Haryana number plate that exploded after halting at a red light near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. Multiple agencies, including forensic and counterterror units, are jointly investigating the cause of the explosion.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while talking to the media at the LNJP hospital, said that authorities are probing the incident from all angles, including the possibility of a terrorist attack, but noted that determining the exact cause remains challenging at this stage.
