Delhi police detained protesting INDIA bloc MPs as they were leading a march from the Parliament House to the the Election Commission of India (ECI) headquarters against the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and alleged electoral malpractices.
Rahul Gandhi was leading the protest march from Makar Dwar in Parliament to the ECI office at Nirvachan Sadan. As they proceeded from the Parliament House, they were stopped by the Police who had erected barricades. While
some MPs including TMC’s Mahua Moitra and Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav were seen climbing the barricades,. others including Mallikarjun Kharge began a sit-in protest at the site.
Meanwhile, the ECI has granted an appointment for an interaction at 12 noon today on the request of the Congress Party.
Later today, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will host the MPs for a dinner meeting to formulate a common strategy on the issue of the alleged poll fraud.
