In its latest advisory directed against Indian nationals, the Ministry of External Affairs asked them not to travel to Iran either by air or by land. The development came days after fight operations between India and Iran resumed partially, following the ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.
"In view of reports of commencement of some flights between India and Iran, and in continuation of earlier advisories, Indian citizens are strongly advised not to travel to Iran, whether by air or land," the Indian Embassy in Tehran mentioned in the advisory.
Raising concerns, the MEA mentioned in the advisory that, despite an extension of the truce, regional conflict could impact the air services between Delhi and Tehran, leading to potential safety concerns for citizens travelling by air.
"Airspace restrictions and operational uncertainties due to regional tensions continue to affect international flight operations to and from Iran," the
advisory further read.
In addition to this, the Indian Embassy also urged Indian nationals to leave Iran by using the designated land border routes. For smooth coordination with the Embassy, it issued two new phone numbers as well.
"It is further reiterated that all Indian nationals currently in Iran should leave the country through designated land border routes, strictly in coordination with the Embassy," the statement further revealed.
In its previous advisory, India urged citizens to 'exit Iran' as soon as possible. The instruction came on April 8, when the West Asia conflict was at its peak, and the possibilities of a ceasefire looked bleak.
"In continuation of the advisory of 07 April 2026, and in light of recent developments, Indian nationals still in Iran are strongly advised to expeditiously exit Iran, in coordination with the Embassy and using the routes suggested by the Embassy," the advisory read.
