Countdown for Monsoon season began as soon as the month of June arrived. The most awaited four-month long season officially spans from June 1 to September 30 according to Skymet.
Substantiating this, the Indian Metrological Departments (IMD) also predicted that the monsoon will hit the initial point, Kerala in the next four- five days.
The country according to IMD is going to receive excess rainfall during this season. They said the rainfall would be 'above normal’ with 104 % of the average.

They also predicted chances of floods in some parts of the country due to heavy rain falls.
IMD predicted that the southern states including Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will get above normal rainfall. Assistant Meteorologist M Narsimha Rao said that the favourable changes are likely to be seen over the Bay of Bengal in the next two days. Clarifying about the month wise rainfall, he said that rains in June might be less as the monsoon may start late but from July it will be at its peak.
