Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Friday warned of strict action against people extorting money by falsely invoking its name, following direct complaints and social media reports.
HYDRAA urged the public not to pay such people and to immediately report such demands to the Anti-Corruption Bureau, HYDRAA or the local police station. The agency clarified that it does not independently act against illegal structures or unauthorised constructions. It removes
dangerous buildings only at the request of the GHMC, CMC and MMCs, and acts only against dilapidated buildings posing a risk to public safety.
A senior HYDRAA official reiterated that hostels operating in unsafe buildings should move to secure premises by December 31, the deadline already set.
Complaints can be lodged through the ACB’s toll-free number 1064, the HYDRAA Control Room’s toll-free number 1070, HYDRAA offices or local police stations.
