Hyderabad local police have registered an FIR on sedition charges against nine persons including Congress Vice president Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the JNU row. Following the direction by the Eleventh Metropolitan Magistrates Court of L.B.Nagar, the Saroornagar police booked a case against these nine persons under the 124 A of the Indian Penal Code. leaders Anand Sharma and Ajay Maken, CPI Leader D Raja, JD-U spokes person K C Tyagi, JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar and JNU research Scholar Umar Khalid were among them. 
A local lawyer Janardhan Goud in his petition to the court, said Rahul Gandhi and eight others had extended support to Kanhaiya despite knowing that Delhi police had booked the student leader under Sedition charges and hence it amounted to sedition.
