A large number of fish fingerlings were found dead in the Godavari River at Yanam, causing concern among residents and fishermen.
Hundreds of dead fish fingerlings washed ashore along the riverbank.
The exact cause of the fish deaths is yet to be determined. Locals suspect that water pollution or depleted dissolved oxygen levels in the water may
have led to the incident.
Residents have urged the Fisheries Department and the Pollution Control Board to collect water samples and conduct scientific tests to ascertain the exact cause of the fish deaths.
They have also demanded an immediate inquiry into the incident and requested the authorities to reveal the findings at the earliest.
