New Delhi: Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla has reviewed the preparedness of Central Ministries, agencies and administration of Andaman and Nicobar in view of impending cyclone in Bay of Bengal.

India Metrological Department (IMD) has informed that the low-pressure area in South East Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into Cyclonic Storm by 21st March with wind speeds of 70 to 80 kilometers per hour gusting to 90 kilometers per hour. In a series of tweets, the Ministry of Home Affairs yesterday said,

Response Force (NDRF) team has been deployed in Port Blair and additional teams are ready if required. Andaman and Nicobar Administration is ready with sufficient stocks of emergency supplies and measures to protect the population and restoration of infrastructure.

Fishing, tourism and shipping activities have been stopped. The Fishermen have been advised to return from sea. Home Secretary has directed Central Ministries and Agencies to keep regular watch and be in touch with Andaman and  Nicobar Administration
