India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places in Mumbai. Extremely heavy rainfall along occasional gusty winds reaching upto 65 kmph are expected in some places. Red alert has been issued in Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur and Satara districts for today. Orange alert has been issued for Mumbai, Pune, Thane and Palghar districts.

Mumbai city and suburbs experienced moderate rainfall with intense spells towards eastern parts of suburbs during the past 6 hrs. Suburban train services are running as regular.

A total of 31 people lost their lives and 11 injured in



various rainfall related incidents in Mumbai yesterday. Various incidents of wall collapse are reported in Chembur, Vikhroli, Bhandup and Kurla where 30 people lost their lives.

Another person died of electrocution in Andheri. State government has announced an ex-gratia of 5 lakh rupee to kin of those who died in the wall collapse incident and free treatment will be provided to the injured. Prime Minister has also announced Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF to the next of kin of those who lost their lives due to wall collapses. He also announced that Rs. 50,000 would be given to those injured.
