In Bihar, heavy rainfall in over 20 districts in the past 24 hours has severely disrupted daily life. Several areas recorded heavy to very heavy rainfall and more than 216 mm of rainfall in some regions during the past 24 hours.

The heavy downpour has affected normal life in Aurangabad, Nawada, Gaya, Saharsa, Begusarai, Vaishali, Samastipur, Patna, Munger, Rohtas, Banka, and surrounding regions.

Heavy rainfall has also been reported in Madhubani, Lakhisarai, Khagaria, and Bhabhua. Due to the swelling of seasonal rivers, many low-lying areas have been inundated. In districts like Patna and Gaya, heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds has led to widespread damage and disruption. Strong gusts have uprooted numerous trees and fallen electricity poles, disrupting road traffic in rural areas and disrupting power supply due to broken electric wires. The catchment areas of state rivers have received good precipitation.

In Patna, the

water level of the Ganga River has risen rapidly and is approaching the danger mark at places like Gandhi Ghat. In Aurangabad, rising water levels in the Son, Batane ( बटाने) and Punpun rivers have prompted alerts for people living along the riverbanks.

In Rohtas, heavy waterlogging has affected most parts of the city. The Central Water Commission has issued a flood warning for the Yadunathpur area due to the rapidly rising water level of the Son River, which has crossed the danger mark reaching 147 meters.

In Gaya, the Falgu and Morhar rivers are in spate, impacting low-lying areas in Imamganj, Sherghati, and Tekari, besides Gaya city. In Nawada, the Khuri and Sakri rivers are also in flood.

The Meteorological Department has forecast that the impact of rainfall will be witnessed in Southwestern Bihar over the next 24 hours, with heavy rain likely in some areas.
