The southwest monsoon is vigorously active in Bihar. As a result, heavy to very heavy rainfall has been recorded in several parts of the state, including Patna district. Apart from Patna, heavy rainfall has also been recorded in Vaishali, Nalanda, Nawada, Jamui, Sitamarhi, and several other areas.
In Bihar, for the past two days, most parts of the state have been experiencing continuous rainfall. In the last 24 hours, Danapur in Patna recorded the highest rainfall at 185 mm. Due to the continuous downpour, waterlogging in Patna city has
disrupted daily life.
Severe waterlogging has also been reported in Nawada, Sheikhpura, Supaul, Jamui, and other towns. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall at several places in the state from 2nd August . Meanwhile, the water levels of major rivers in the state such as the Ganga, Gandak, Kosi, and Mahananda, have been rising rapidly. In Bhojpur district, due to severe erosion, a large number of houses have been washed away into the Ganga River.
