The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a landslide warning for Himachal Pradesh on Monday after heavy rain lashed throughout the state. Eighteen out of 22 places in the state come under the ambit of the warning and are presently at risk of landslides.

The incessant rain has disrupted electricity supply in nearly 130 areas and has affected the water supply throughout the state.

Over 250 roads across the state have also been shut due to the incessant rain, with maximum damage being reported in Sirmaur and Mandi districts, where 57 and 44 roads were blocked respectively.

Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed the deputy commissioners of Kangra, Mandi, Sirmaur and Solan districts to order a closure of schools on June 30 after the meteorological department issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The services on the Shimla-Kalka rail line were also suspended for hours till the debris and trees were removed from the tracks following overnight rains were removed, adding to the woes of the people.

Several rain-related incidents were also reported throughout the state, leading to the death of three people in the last 24 hours, taking the overall death toll in the state to 20 since the onset of monsoons.
