Moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed Vijayawada city on Saturday morning.
The sudden downpour led to waterlogging in low-lying areas and major roads across the city. Motorists, office-goers and students struggled to travel as several roads were flooded with knee-deep water.

Director Prakhar Jain said that, under the influence of the low-pressure area, strong winds with speeds of 50 to 60 kmph are likely along the North Andhra coast, while winds of 40 to 50 kmph may prevail along the South Coast.
He advised people to remain alert and take necessary precautions in view of the rains. Fishermen have also been advised not to venture into the sea due to strong winds along the coast.
