Heavy rain hits normal life in many States

Heavy rain continues to affect normal life in different parts of the country.

In Karnataka, downpour in North Interior and coastal regions has taken toll of around seven people.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa will conduct an aerial survey of flood-affected areas today. Krishna, Cauvery, Tungabhadra and Netravati River are at the spate. 

According to the state Disaster management centre, 237 villages in 32 taluks in 11 districts are marooned. A joint rescue team of Fire and Emergency, SDRF, NDRF and Army have evacuated over 25,000 people in Belagavi district.  

In Kerala, as monsoon revives after waning for



a while, several parts of the state witnessed intense rains over the last few days. 

Fishermen have been advised not to venture out into the sea owing to high winds.

In Uttar Pradesh as well, many parts of the state received heavy to moderate rain yesterday and as per the Met department, this situation is going to prevail for some time. At least 14 people lost their lives due to rain-related incidents. 

Similarly, in Madhya Pradesh, the MeT department has also issued a warning of heavy rainfall in 28 districts including Jabalpur, Shahdol, Chhindwara, Hoshangabad, Jhabua, Vidisha.
