Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has emphasized on the need to leverage the collective strength of the Integrated Cold Chain network to cope  with the COVID-19 crisis that has posed a challenge to the existing supply chain of food products. 

Ms Badal yesterday hold video conference with promoters of cold chain projects through video conference. They discussed issues such as piling stocks of frozen vegetables and processed dairy products not finding their traditional markets like restaurants,



banquets and hotels amidst the lockdown and the difficulty in exporting these products. 

The promoters shared the challenges faced in running the cold chain projects during the lockdown period. The promoters shared that higher number of working hours are required as businesses are operating with half of labour Force which has increased the cost of production. The Minister also discussed the availability of Raw material, its high cost and impact of lockdown on operations.
