In a bid to ease rising traffic congestion, GVMC commissioner Ketan Garg has directed officials to prepare plans for implementing free left turns at major junctions in Visakhapatnam.

During an inspection of the East Zone stretch from VIMS Hospital to Visakha Valley School Junction and up to Hanumanthawaka Junction on Thursday, East Constituency MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu highlighted severe traffic issues along the National Highway, particularly between Hanumanthawaka and Visakha Valley Junction, and suggested introducing free left turns to

improve vehicular and pedestrian movement.

Acting on the proposal, the commissioner asked officials to prepare plans for free left turns at Adarsh Nagar Old Dairy Farm Junction and to coordinate with the National Highways Authority for a joint action plan.

He also stressed the need to construct a drain along the Adarsh Nagar–Indira Nagar stretch to facilitate service road widening and reduce congestion. Plans have also been sought for traffic improvements in Visalakshi Nagar 1st and 2nd roads and Kailasagiri Road.
