Deputy Chief Minister Md Mahmood Ali on Wednesday said the government was committed to providing quality education to minority girls on a par with corporate schools.
The Deputy Chief Minister, who inaugurated the Telangana Minority residential School for girls at Golconda, said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was keen on establishing residential schools for minorities in order to increase the number of graduates from among the Muslim community. 
The number of graduates from among the community was a meagre 3 per cent of their population. He also said the Chief Minister had launched several schemes for the uplift of minority communities since the inception of TRS in 2001.
He said the government was paying utmost attention in



providing education to girls. The State government started 71 minority residential schools exclusively for the minority population in the city.  Out of 71 residential schools, as many as 39 are for boys and 32 are for girls. Karwan MLA Kausar Moinuddin urged the State government to sanction one more residential school for girls in his constituency. 
Telangana State Minority Residential Education Institution Society Chairman A K Khan said that the government had already established 120 schools for the SC, ST, BC and Minorities. The government was focussing attention on the welfare of weaker sections. The teachers would be appointed through TSPSC, he said, adding that they would be provided with the quarters within two years.
