Minister of State for Food Processing Rameswar Teli has said that the Union government is considering several mini and mega food parks across the country. In the inaugural function of the food processing industry expo in Chennai, he said mini food parks require ten acres of land and mega parks 50 acres, for which the Government provides incentives and subsidies. 

For mega parks, a subsidy of 50 crore rupees is being provided to address critical gaps in the value



chain.

Tamil Nadu Governor Bunwarilal Purohit told the gathering, that reaching the target of becoming a five-trillion dollar economy by 2024 would require nine per cent GDP growth for which food processing sector should also contribute significantly.

Industry circles indicate that food processing is one of the biggest employment generators, providing jobs to over 90 lakh people.
