The Prime Minister has reiterated that his government believes in cooperative federalism and wants to give the States maximum strength and enable them to progress. Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of Sarwanand Sonowal as the Chief Minister of Assam , he said, democracy is about participation and both the Centre and the States must walk shoulder to shoulder for development.

all-round and inclusive, adding that the eastern part of the country cannot remain away from the development journey. The Prime Minister assured the people that the newly-elected government under the leadership of Mr Sonowal will serve Assam and work very hard to transform the state. Praising Mr Sonowal, Mr Modi said, a leader belonging to the tribal community and a leader dedicated to serving society is now the Chief Minister.
