Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju has said that if racial angle is found in any of the cases of attacks on African nationals, stringent action will be taken. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, Mr Rijiju said government has taken up the matter seriously and some arrests have already been made. He said, maintaining law and order is government's responsibility and nobody who takes law in his hands would be spared, whether he is Indian citizen or foreign national.

African Students in India and African nationals living in New Delhi today protested at the Jantar Mantar in the national capital against the increasing number of racial attacks on the community. The protest march was led by family members of Masonda Kitanda Olivier, who was allegedly beaten to death by locals in South Delhi last week. They demanded safety and security for the community. They said, it is a very serious issue and needed to be taken with sensitivity by the Indian government.
