A girl accused of hurling abuse at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar has issued a public apology in a video that has since gone viral online.

Speaking with folded hands, the girl said she had been swept up by the crowd's mood and used inappropriate language against the Prime Minister. She expressed deep remorse, calling it her first and last mistake, and asked the country for

forgiveness.

"I am only 15 years old. Whatever I did was not worthy of forgiveness," she said in the video, Notably, she stated her age as 15, which conflicts with the Zero FIR filed against her, which listed her as 25.

The apology surfaced shortly after Modi posted his own late-night video message on Instagram, in which he said he was prepared to forgive the "misguided" young people involved and called for society to counsel rather than punish them.
