Free Wi-Fi services have been restored at 32 locations along the Marina and Besant Nagar beaches and have been made available to the public.

The Greater Chennai Corporation has restored the service at 27 locations between the Labour Statue and the Lighthouse on Marina Beach and five locations at Besant Nagar Beach, enabling visitors to access the internet free of cost.

To use the facility, users have to switch on Wi-Fi on their mobile phones, select the available network and scan the QR code displayed. After entering the OTP received on their registered

mobile number, the Wi-Fi connection will be activated.

The initiative is part of the State government's efforts to expand digital services and provide easier access to technology in public spaces. The Corporation had earlier taken steps to provide high-quality free Wi-Fi facilities at major public gathering spaces, including beaches, parks and playgrounds.

The GCC is also working on restoring non-functional Wi-Fi facilities and setting up new Wi-Fi infrastructure at other beaches, parks, sports grounds and other locations frequented by large numbers of people.
