Four pilgrims from Hyderabad were killed and three others were severely injured when their SUV overturned near Chagalamarri in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh this morning. The condition of one of the injured is said to be critical.
The deceased were identified as Subbaraju (55), Kanakaraju (72), Rangaraju (58) and Ramakrishnamraju (55). The injured were Murthy Raju, Rammohanraju and driver Krishnarao. All are residents of Nagarjuna Homes in Kukatpally of Hyderabad.
Police said the groups went on a pilgrimage to Tirupati on October 11 and then to Srisailam. They were returning to Hyderabad when the accident occurred.The injured have been rushed to the Kurnool General Hospital where the condition of driver Krishnarao is said to be critical.
Police said the families of the victims have been informed and the bodies would be handed over to them after the post-mortem procedures.
