Four unidentified men allegedly waylaid an employee of a cement and iron trading firm and robbed him of Rs 8.52 lakh in cash at Mulkaje Mada in Maninalkur village of Bantwal taluk, Karnataka on Thursday afternoon. 

The victim, identified as Mayyadi, 40, works for a firm based in Kannur and is posted in Mangaluru. He had been collecting business payments from various shops on behalf of the firm and was returning on his



motorcycle after collecting cash from several establishments.

According to his complaint, Mayyadi was travelling from Kakke Padavu towards Panemangalore when the four men, travelling on two motorcycles, intercepted him around 1 pm. 

The suspects allegedly brandished swords, threatened him and fled with the Rs 8.52 lakh in cash he was carrying. Bantwal Rural police have registered a case and are investigating.
