Four people, including two women, were killed in lightning strikes in two districts of Jharkhand a day ago, police said on Friday.
Of the four fatalities, three were reported from Hazaribag district, and one from Chatra, a senior officer said.
In Hazaribag, a couple was killed after being struck by lightning in Kanchanpur village within the Katkamsandi Police Station limits on Thursday, he said.
Another woman was killed in Choutha village within the Barkatha Police Station limits on the same day, the officer said.
The deceased couple was identified as Basudev Mahto (51) and his
wife Duliya Devi (48). The incident occurred when they were working in a paddy field, Hazaribag DSP (Headquarters) Gayan Ranjan said.
The deceased in Choutha village was identified as Baswa Devi (50), Barkatha Police Station officer-in-charge Ashish Kumar said.
In Chatra, a 25-year-old man died after being struck by lightning while he was travelling from Kalyanpur Market to Hafua within the Piparwar Police Station limits, another officer said.
The deceased was identified as Pawan Kumar Mahto, a resident of Hafua village, Piparwar Police Station officer-in-charge Prashant Mishra said.
