Four BJP workers from Murshidabad district were run over and killed by a speeding train while on their way to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public meeting at Taherpur in Nadia district on Saturday morning.
According to railway police, the incident occurred around 5.15 am between Badkulla and Taherpur railway stations. The victims were part of a group of
BJP workers travelling in buses to attend the meeting.
While en route, five of them reportedly went onto the railway track for morning nature’s call, when a Krishnanagar local train ran over them.
Three BJP workers died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries at a hospital. One more person sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment.
