Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister KV Thomas has been officially expelled from the party. KPCC President K. Sudhakaran said, the decision to expel Mr Thomas has been taken with the concurrence of the AICC. The party's action comes after Mr. Thomas attended an election convention of the ruling CPM-led Left Democratic Front at Thrikkakkara in Ernakulam. He had faced action from the party for attending a CPM seminar in Kannur last
month.
A disciplinary committee headed by senior party leader AK Antony recommended the removal of Mr. Thomas from all party positions and admonished him for participating in the CPM seminar.
Mr. Thomas was Union Minister in the UPA Government. He has been a member of Lok Sabha for six terms and MLA for two terms. Mr. Thomas was also a minister in the AK Antony Government in Kerala.
