South west monsoon has led to isolated rain in many parts of Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu. Water released from rain filled dams has led to flooding of rivers in the district. Tamil Nadu Revenue Minister R B Udayakumar yesterday held a review meeting with officials in Chennai regarding precautionary steps being taken to deal with the situation. 
Flood alerts are being issued to people living in low lying areas in Kanyakumari district as south west



monsoon has flooded rivers. Water levels in dams like Pechiparai, Sitrar and Mambazhathurai Yaru have reached dangerous levels. Kumari Sea is rough and turbulent and sea erosion has affected many fishing hamlets. People are being moved to special camps as houses were damaged in coastal fishing hamlets like Eraviputhen Thurai. Chennai Met office has warned of strong winds at speed of 55 kilometre per hour in south westerly direction off the coast of Tamil Nadu.
