Flood situation remains grim in western part of Maharashtra as incessant rains continue to hit Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Pune and Solapur districts. 

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis yesterday held a review meeting in Mumbai regarding the flood situation in western part of the state. 

All dams of Pune, Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur are hundred per cent full and all riverside villages of Pune district have been ed. Over one lakh people have been displaced. 

The state government has announced a compensation of ten to fifteen thousand rupees for flood-affected people. 

At least 16 people have lost their lives and over 1.32 lakh people have been evacuated so far from five districts of Solapur, Sangli, Satara, Kolhapur and Pune due to the prevailing flood situation.

leading to excessive floods also majorly affecting road and rail traffic in these districts. Over 23 teams of NDRF are involved in relief and rescue operation in coordination with state authorities, Navy, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard. 

All schools and colleges remained closed in Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur districts yesterday. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis yesterday held a review meeting with all the concerned ministers and district collectors. He will be visiting Kolhapur and Sangli districts today to take stock of the flood situation. 

He has directed authorities to make adequate arrangements for food, drinking water and other essential items for flood-affected people. He has also directed the Health Ministry to make available medical teams from Mumbai for these districts in case of any requirements by local authorities.
