In Gujarat, heavy rains lashed several parts of Surat on Monday, leading to flood-like situations in low-lying areas of the city. The city witnessed more than 8 inches of rainfall affecting normal life.
The Fire Department evacuated over 100 people, including children, from schools and residential areas. Amid the flood-like situation, schools and colleges have been closed Mid session. With water levels rising above 6 feet, the causeway on
the Tapi River has been closed to motorists. Continuous rainfall has also led to fresh inflow into the river.
Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted widespread rain across the state and fishermen have been warned not to venture into the sea till the 27th of this month. Fifteen dams in the state are on high alert, and more than 60 roads have been closed to traffic due to water logging.
