In Uttar Pradesh, a flood alert has been issued in many districts of the Terai region in view of heavy rains for last two days. All major rivers are in spate and have inundated large swathes of land. As Sharda and Ghaghra rivers crossed danger mark in Lakhimpur Khiri and Barabanki, the flood threat looms large over several districts.
11 people have lost their lives in rain related accidents in different parts of the state in last two days. The flood posts established to help the affected people have started working in various districts including Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Khiri, Basti and Bahraich.
The water of bulging Ganga has entered into Rasulpur village of Amroha whereas the district administration has sounded flood alert for twelve more villages. In Kushinagar, river Budhi Gandak is in spate due to water released from Balmikinagar barrage and continuous rain in upper reaches of Nepal. Though still below danger mark, river Ganga is rising in Kanpur, Allahabad and Varanasi inundating low lying areas.
