In Andaman, the flight services plying between Port Blair and the mainland are going to increase from tomorrow after the resumption of tourism activities in the Islands.

Now, a total of 14 flights will be available per week connecting Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi and Hyderabad directly.
 
Earlier, only seven flights were available. The decision is taken considering the arrival of tourists, the festival season is also just around the corner.
 
It is to mention that tourism is the core business in the islands which provides employment to thousands of



people.
 
The COVID crisis has severely affected the local tourism for the last six months but now the tour operators and agency owners are waiting desperately for tourist's arrival.
 
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 situation seems to be in control with the recovery rate of more than 93 percent.
 
On Tuesday, 18 positive cases were reported. Now there are 181 active cases in the islands.
 
So far 3821 cases have been reported out of which 3587 have been recovered while 53 people died.
