In Jammu and Kashmir, the first batch of 1056 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu yesterday for the Budhha Amarnath shrine in the bordering Poonch district amidst high security. T

The annual pilgrimage was flagged off by the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Additional Director General of Police, Jammu zone, Mukesh Singh. Suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Buddha Amarnath Yatra has resumed after a gap of two years.

to Buddha Amarnath Shrine in Mandi hills of the Poonch district will culminate on the 8th of August with the departure of 'Chari Mubarak' from Shri Dashnami Akhara temple in Poonch. Worth to mention, that the temple of Baba Buddha Amarnath, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is also known as 'Chattani Baba Amarnath temple and is located 290 kilometers northwest of Jammu. Multi-tier security has been put in place at the route to ensure an incident-free yatra this year.
