Fire broke out at Rainbow Children’s Hospital in Vijayawada, patients safe

A fire broke out at Rainbow Children’s Private Hospital in Currency Nagar on Wednesday morning in the city. The blaze was reportedly triggered by a short circuit in the hospital’s emergency ward. 

The alert hospital staff noticed the smoke and fire coming from the AC vent and immediately shifted the children and patients undergoing treatment in the emergency ward to another ward. Their swift action averted any loss of life.

The staff immediately called the fire department, and two fire



tenders were deployed to douse the flames and prevent them from spreading further, as the hospital is centrally located in a busy residential locality in Vijayawada.

Also, the hospital’s fire detection auto-sensors were functional at the time of the incident and issued a timely warning, enabling the staff to respond quickly, and a major tragedy was averted. 

Hospital sources said medical equipment and other materials in the emergency ward were destroyed in the fire, and the ward was completely gutted.
