The Kashmir Files, a film on the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from the Valley in the 1990s, has sharply divided opinions in the Indian blogosphere. Amidst raging debate on the subject, an IAS officer from Madhya Pradesh has suggested that the producers of the film should make a movie about the predicament of Muslims in the country.

Acknowledging that The Kashmir Files depicts the pain and suffering of the Kashmiri Hindus who were forced out of their homes, IAS officer Niyaz Khan said that by the same token, the atrocities that Muslims are subjected to should also be showcased on the silver screen.

"Kashmir Files shows the pain of Brahmins. They should be allowed to live safely in Kashmir with all honour. The producer must also make a movie to show the killings of large number of Muslims across several states. Muslims are not insects but human beings and citizens of country,” Niyaz Khan said in a tweet.

Khan

holds the post of deputy secretary in the Madhya Pradesh Public Works Department. He has also authored seven books, including Talaq Talaq Talaq (about instant Talaq) and Be Ready to Die, on the 2014 genocide of Yazidis by the Islamic State.

In another tweet, Khan said he is considering penning his eighth novel on the “massacre of Muslims”, which could serve as the source material for a movie on the subject.

"Thinking to write a book to show the massacre of Muslims on different occasions so that a movie like Kashmir Files could be produced by some producer, so that, the pain and suffering of minorities could be brought before Indians,” he said.

While The Kashmir Files has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, it has garnered support from the central government, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several leaders from the ruling BJP, who endorsed the movie.
