Bengaluru: Union Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar addressed a Yuva Samvad in Bengaluru on 24th of March 2023 organised by Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya. He said that United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken will be asked to set up a US Consulate in Bengaluru soon.

Responding to a request by Tejasvi Surya, the minister said that it makes sense to have a consulate in Bengaluru as the city contributes the country’s 40% revenue from the IT sector. He assured that during his next meeting with Mr Blinken, he will take up this issue with conviction. The Minister of External Affairs spoke on the significance of hosting the G20 Summit in India,



relationship with Russia and China, priorities of the Quad and India’s humanitarian efforts in Syria, Turkey and Afghanistan. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Member of Parliament Tejasvi Surya spoke about the contribution of Bengaluru and how the state has attracted the highest FDI in the last four years and projects to be taken up to improve infrastructure in Bengaluru. He added that Karnataka tops the National Innovation Index, it has 400 out of Fortune 500 companies, 65 percent of India’s aerospace and defence manufacturing happens in Bengaluru and Bengaluru also has the largest metro connectivity in South India.
