A large number of ex-servicemen participated in a protest demanding the establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya school in Vellore district.

They resorted to a picketing agitation in front of the Vellore district collectorate and then submitted a petition.

More than 30,000 serving and retired personnel of the Indian Armed Forces, ranging from soldiers to officers,

resided in Vellore and Tirupattur districts, particularly Katpadi and Kammavanpettai.

The demand for a Kendriya Vidyalaya school in Vellore has been pending for more than 40 years.

The protest was organised by the Federation of All Associations of Former Armed Forces Personnel, led by P. Vinayagamurthy, district president, and honorary president Thandapani.
