Yashvardhan, the son of a former Uttarakhand Chief Secretary, was arrested in Dehradun for allegedly cheating people by posing as a senior Army officer and an official of the Union home and defence ministries, police said on Thursday.
The case was registered against Yashvardhan after a Delhi
woman alleged that he had duped her of Rs 4.5 lakh by claiming to have influential contacts in the government.
He allegedly demanded more money from her, following which she approached the police.
Dehradun police arrested him after collecting evidence during the investigation.
