Electricity generation capacity registers 23% growth : Piyush Goyal

Union Minister of Power Piyush Goel has said, electricity generation capacity in the country has increased by 46,000 megawatt in two years registering 23 percent growth. He launched green technology products developed by innovators in IIT, Madras Research Park in Chennai last evening. 

Addressing newspersons, Mr Goel said, many power



projects that stranded earlier by issues like environmental clearances and land acquisition were helped to start operations. Mr Goel observed that the cost of green energy is ever on the decline and pointed out that a recent tender floated by Rajasthan has attracted bids quoting 4.35 rupees per unit of solar power, which was very high earlier.
