Election campaign has intensified for the first phase of polls in Assam as stalwarts of major political parties are lining up to hold public meetings. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and BJP party president Amit Shah, now it is Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's turn to woo the people in the Valley. Mr Gandhi will address election rallies at Diphu in Karbi Anglong district, Nilam Bazar in Karimganj district and Sonai in Cachar district today. In order to ensure fair assembly polls, Election Commission has initiated action to check anti social elements.
