Mumbai: In Maharashtra, the newly formed government led by Eknath Shinde, a Shiv Sena dissident and BJP combined will face the floor test today in the Legislative Assembly. Today is also the last day of the two-day special session of the Legislative Assembly.

Today will be the most crucial day for the newly formed Eknath Shinde government as this government will be facing floor test in the Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra. Although Shinde Government had already won the so-called semi-final of the floor test by defeating the Maha Vikas Aghadi candidate in the speaker's election yesterday.

BJP candidate Rahul Narvekar won the election by securing 164 votes while MVA candidate Rajan Salvi could secure only 107 votes. This has given the much-required relief and increased the confidence of the

Eknath Shinde government.

At the same time, the morale of the government has increased as the Maharashtra Legislature Secretariat has approved the appointment of Eknath Shinde as the leader of Shiv Sena Legislative party and Bharatseth Gogawale as the Chief Whip of the party. The secretariat has canceled the appointment of Shiv Sena’s Ajay Chaudhari as the leader of Shiv Sena Legislative party and Sunil Prabhu as the Chief Whip of the party. This has paved the way for the Shinde Government to prove its majority.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has already expressed confidence to win the floor test with a thumping majority. Today is the last day of the special session and it will culminate with the completion of the floor test.
