Eighty fishermen released by Sri Lanka

In Tamil Nadu eighty Indian fishermen released from Sri Lankan jail returned home last night. Earlier Sri Lankan Navy handed over the fishermen to Indian Coast Guard at the international maritime boundary line. The fishermen from Tamil Nadu were welcomed by Nagai district administration and relatives of fishermen at Karaikal private



port. 

Eighty fishermen who were apprehended by Sri Lankan Navy last July were released by Sri Lanka as goodwill gesture early this month.Forty eight fishermen from Pudukottai, 24 fishermen from Ramanathapuram and eight fishermen from Nagapattinam were sent to their hamlets. The fishermen urged the government to secure the fishing boats detained by Sri Lanka.
