Eighteen Foreigners Detained in Delhi Over Visa Overstay

Eighteen foreign nationals, including nine from Thailand, four from Nigeria and three from Bangladesh, have been apprehended for allegedly overstaying in India during a verification drive in Delhi's Outer District, police said on Saturday. 

The drive was conducted by the Foreigner Cell of the Outer District and local police stations to trace and verify foreign nationals residing in the area.

Police said three Bangladeshi nationals were intercepted near Peeragarhi Chowk after specific information was received



about their presence. 

They allegedly tried to disperse on noticing the police team. During verification, the three could not produce valid documents and were found carrying expired passports and visas, police said.

In a separate exercise, teams from Paschim Vihar East and Nihal Vihar police stations, along with the Foreigner Cell, apprehended 15 more foreign nationals, including nine Thai, four Nigerian, one Ugandan and one Guinean national. Their passports and visas were found to have expired, police said.
