TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee was attacked during his visit to Sonarpur in West Bengal on Saturday, where he had gone to meet the families of post-poll violence victims. Eggs and stones were thrown at Banerjee during the visit. Security personnel escorted the TMC leader while he wore a helmet amid the attack.
During the incident, BJP workers allegedly raised "chor chor" slogans against Banerjee. Visuals from the scene showed security personnel surrounding and escorting him as tensions
escalated.
Reacting to the attack, Banerjee alleged that the incident was sponsored by the BJP. "It's all BJP-sponsored. Look what they have done. This is their example of democracy. It hasn't even been a month, and the police are nowhere to be seen," he said.
The incident took place in Sonarpur as Banerjee visited the area to meet the families of those affected by post-poll violence. According to the information provided, locals also confronted the TMC MP during the visit.
