A day after the Kerala High Court dismissed a plea filed by Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL), the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday raided 10 locations, including the residences of former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and former Public Works Minister P. A. Mohammad Riyas. Mohammad Riyas is married to Vijayan?s daughter, Veena Vijayan who is facing allegations of receiving payments from CMRL.

The raids began Monday morning, just hours after the High Court delivered its verdict rejecting CMRL?s petition

to quash proceedings initiated by the ED. CMRL had approached the court to challenge the ED?s probe into allegations of bribery and money laundering linked to alleged payments made to Veena and her firm, Exalogic Solutions Pvt Ltd.

The petition sought to quash the ED proceedings stemming from the Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) and to stay the summons issued to officials. It is alleged that CMRL paid bribes to Veena, her company, and other public servants, and engaged in illegal financial transactions.
