EC notifies by-poll to one RS seat of UP

The Election Commission yesterday notified by-election to one Rajya Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh. 

Election commission release said that the nominations for the lone seat of Rajya Sabha by-poll would end on 14th August while the scrutiny of papers would be done on August 16. The last date for withdrawals is August



19.

The polling, if required, would be held between 9 am to 4 pm on August 26 and the results would be declared the same day. 

The seat fell vacant due to the resignation of Samajwadi Party member Neeraj Shekhar, who has now joined the BJP. The term of the seat is up to November 25, 2020.
