In Bihar, the Election Commission of India has asked to furnish details for investigation to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, who is embroiled in a controversy over two voter identity cards. The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of Digha assembly constituency has stated that the voter ID card displayed by Mr. Yadav in a press conference yesterday was not issued by the Election Commission. RJD leader’s name is enrolled in the Electoral Roll of Digha Assembly Constituency.

Mr. Yadav had shown the EPIC card’s number, alleging that his name was removed from the draft voter list. However, Patna’s District Election Officer-cum-District Magistrate, Dr. Thyagarajan, refuted this claim.

The District Election Officer disclosed the voter list publicly with the EPIC number, confirming that Tejashwi Prasad Yadav’s name remains in the list, and his polling station is Booth No. 204, located at the Library

Building of Bihar Animal Sciences University.

After this, the Election Commission has written to the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, requesting him to submit the original voter ID card and its details for necessary scrutiny. Tejashwi Prasad Yadav is caught in a controversy over his voter ID (EPIC) card.

Leaders of the BJP and other NDA allies have alleged that Tejashwi must answer for possessing a fake voter card.

BJP’s national spokesperson, Ajay Alok, demanded that the Election Commission take cognizance of the matter and file a case against Tejashwi Yadav for holding two voter identity cards.

In a press conference at the BJP headquarters in Patna, NDA spokespersons stated that possessing two identity cards is a cognizable offence, and action should be taken in this matter.
